HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

The New Testament Mercy

God is rich in mercy; hence, to give some out could be a very easy task. But in some cases, mercy could be offered with a great level of prudence.

Despite all that Abraham pleaded for the city of Sodom and Gomorrah not to be destroyed, it costs God nothing to turn down his request and it eventually yielded no favourable result for the act of mercy is completely Gods.

In the Old Testament, mercy at the first instance was found not offered to all people. After all, God says in Romans 9:15, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy”. So also, the extravagant mercy of God was offered, but to just few individuals according to the sovereign measure of God.

But today, there is a New Testament mercy which is now available to all and sundry irrespective of tribe, culture, religion, language and ethnicity.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
God is no more interested in your bar ground as a Gentile or Jew. Inasmuch as you are still a living being, it does not matter the many sins you have committed, if only you can believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Lord and personal saviour, you shall be saved.

Jesus stated further in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”. As you can see, it is no more God’s responsibility deciding to whom mercy is given but our choice and responsibility to receive when we yield His call. Psalm 51:17 says, “the sacrifice of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou will not despise”.
If only you can come to Him today with a repentant heart, He will by no means deny you access unto Him.

According to Ephesians 2:5, “we are saved by grace”, not just mercy, neither an extravagant mercy but the unmerited favour and the grace of God.

You can imagine we, who were once condemned to death in Adam due to sins that reigned in our mortal bodies as a natural man. But now in Christ Jesus, are made perfect and quickened back to life by His blood. This is an unfathomable love as a result of God’s grace.

However, it is known as mercy in the Old Testament but in the New Testament, it is known as grace because it is now available to all.

GRACE as an acronym is simply interpreted; God’s Riches At Christ Expense. Therefore, grace is a divine assistance rendered to man for the sake of Jesus Christ.
