HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

The Path To Greatness

"But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."          ( Matthew 20:25-28)

There are two different kingdom operating on earth today; First, the kingdom of darkness otherwise known as the kingdom of this world. And secondly, the kingdom of light also known as the kingdom of Heaven.
Greatness in the kingdom of this world is usually attached to education, riches, discovery, skill, ability and possession. So many things indeed come to play in this regard. But, in the kingdom of Heaven, the only yardstick used in measuring this, is the ability to serve (the level at which one can be put to use by God).
According to our opening scripture, Jesus made it clear that the rulers in the Gentile world exercise authority over their subordinates without any sense of responsibility.
But, in the kingdom of Heaven, the reverse is the case. Your ability to recognize yourself as a servant and discharge your duties accordingly determines your greatness in the kingdom of light.
Our level of understanding and commitment towards service to God determines our position in His kingdom. Every outstanding skill and quality notwithstanding, except it is submitted to be used for God regardless of any selfish benefit, it amounts to vanity.
Our level of understanding and commitment towards humanitarian services determine our position in God. Where do you want to be in the kingdom of Heaven; at the gate, on the street, in the palace with the Lord or you don't even want to be there at all? It is a choice you have to make consciously by the virtue of services rendered by you.

The word serve simply means to work especially as a servant, to satisfy the need of somebody whether convenient or inconvenient, to be of use, to give aid or help with a sense of responsibility.
Hence, to serve God is a clarion call to let our heart be dominated with His commandment in relation to all services rendered both in the church and outside the church. Just the way we are being bothered with our secular job, we ought to be equally consumed with our spiritual duty as well.
As a child of God, we are not of the world but in the world. However, our service in this world whether secular or in the church is expected to be discharged as on to God. When we are committed to serve God by obeying His commandment in carrying out our secular responsibilities, the Lord is mindful of our success and make sure that all our endeavour is prospered.
It does not really matter the level of corruption and manipulation presently going on in the world today, it is our duty and responsibility to stand out and make a difference in our world.

Commitment to service does not only attract success on earth, it is the only way to greatness in the kingdom of Heaven.
John 4:24 says, "God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth". This however implies that God can only be served or worshiped in spirit and in truth.
Singing worship, lifting holy hands and taking part in the church activities without a sense of duty to God in the secular world amount to nothing. Serving God is not about clothing where men flaunt their cooperate attires on Sundays in the name of fellowship without a true commitment to God in our daily secular deals.
Pleasing and being loyal to the leaders and superiors that one may be seen and recognised of men as a committed servant is good but it may not attract any eternal reward if the same attitude is not reciprocated towards God  in the secular world. This may only be regarded as service to man which attracts only the reward from man.

Conclusively, serving God acceptably is both done physically and spiritually which whether seen or not by men, we have the consciousness that God sees us and He is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
Serve God putting to practice all His commandments at your place of work, in a political party you belong, at school, in the market, when at home, when on a journey, in the church and anywhere you may find yourself. Do this and you shall be great!

It is a pleasure having you around here today.
