HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

LIVING BY THE WORD

At creation, God gave man two options; that is to obey His word and live, or to do otherwise and die.
Genesis 2:16-17, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”

The instruction was very clear; unfortunately Adam chose to die rather than to live. Of course, he did not die instantly. In the actual fact, he lived for many years even more than what an average man lives on earth today.

Genesis 5:5, “And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died”

But, that was not God’s idea of living; Adam only survived for the time being, the truth is that he died but lived as a chunk of clay the rest of his days on earth. The purpose of God over his life was jeopardized. God never wants man to live for a while but to live eternally.  As a result of Adam’s choice, God says in Genesis 3:22, “Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever. Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken”.

Today, life on earth is no longer what it ought to be, as everyman is only struggling to survive while waiting to return back to a place yet unknown. But, you will not die like Adam in the name of Jesus.

In the same vein, at the arrival of the second and the last Adam—Jesus, the devil appeared once again with the same old temptation in which the first Adam fell—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life,

1 John 2:16, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world”

Jesus however, with his mission on earth to destroy the work of Satan, unlike the first Adam, He was actually ready for this encounter and He finished the devil with the right weapon—the Word of God. Matthew 4:1-11

There is an important lesson to learn in this encounter with Satan, note that for all the tests the devil gave to Jesus Christ, he made it emphatically known that he was only after the sons of God.

Matthew 4:3, “And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread”

The question therefore is, are you a child of God? Then get ready for your turn with Satan. But remember, Jesus was never a stomach infrastructure kind of man or butter and bread kind of brother; He is an ardent devotee of the word of God.

Note this, with a choice to live by bread, death is inevitable. But, when the Word of God is obeyed, eternal live is guaranteed. I pray you shall make the right choice, you shall overcome and you will not be defeated in the name of Jesus.
