HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

WATCH THAT DISTRACTION

Distraction is a terrible enemy of success in life. It is so deadly in the sense that one who is being distracted may think he’s doing the right thing and never know how much damage he has done to himself until he has been fully rendered a victim.

In Luke 10:38-42, Jesus entered the house of Martha and as soon as He sat down in the house, Martha left Him in the sitting room and was encumbered with much serving. Also in the house was Mary, the sister to Martha. She however came to sit at the Master’s feet and was listening to His word. In anger, Martha came to the Master and was complaining about the unconcerned attitude of the sister, but the Master’s response was so shocking. In a blatant truth, Jesus made her know that what she was doing was not in any way needful, but Mary has chosen the good part which cannot be taken away from her. Luke 10:41-42, “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her”.

Distraction can be defined as a situation whereby one’s attention to do the right thing at a particular time or the other is being diverted from what he ought to do or a situation whereby one is being confused or preoccupied with doing the right thing. ding

It is quite acceptable among men to entertain visitors with much serving each time they come visiting but when it is the person of Jesus Christ, the only thing that is needful each time He comes knocking at the door of our heart is to open up and give Him audience.

Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me”.

God is not interested in our much serving but to hear and do His word. Anything apart from this is tantamount to distraction. Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. The required ingredient to achieving anything in life is faith; hence it is not acquired by the word of man but by the word of God.

By the reason of the death of Jesus Christ for the whole world, every man on earth today has been offered the right to become a child of God. But, many are distracted and have refused to accept the offer which in turn has automatically rendered them subjects to the devil. Psalm 82:6-7, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes”.

The scripture above talked about every man on earth as gods and also as children of the Most High. But, because of distraction—lackadaisical attitude to take simple instruction from God, lust and selfish interest; they walked on in darkness and it was declared they shall die like men.

Distraction brought about the separation between man and God. When goat gives birth to their young ones, they are referred to as goats. The dog equally gives birth to dogs and all of these come alive with every feature and characteristic traceable to their parents. In the same manner, when God gives birth to His own children, they are referred to as gods. Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them”.

Man at the beginning was created in the image of God with every attribute of God embedded in him; but as a result of distraction, he followed after the serpent, and he ended up as Adam and not as gods. God never dies, He lives eternally. But, because of distraction, the man was made subject to death.

What is actually taking much of your time, is it television, the internet, social media, soccer, politics, your job, business, or your family? There must be time apportioned for all these activities, all indeed have roles they play in our physical well-being but never to the detriment of the word of God.

Be eager to attend church services with much readiness to hear the word of God.

Draw a daily timetable to study the word of God.

Never underestimate yourself, and develop the habit of writing a Christian journal, you never can tell the plan of God concerning your life, He can decide to use you as a vehicle to drive His word around the globe, so start today. And from experience, when you develop the habit of writing a Christian journal, you become more committed to the word of God and grow thereby.

There are various types of success out there, many of which are counterfeits. Even in a state of distraction when you are busy doing that which is not needful, you can be successful in terms of material wealth but how true is this when you are not dwelling in the word of God?  Joshua 1:8, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.

True success is only acquired when it comes with God’s word in practice.

Note this; distraction could be considered mild, but notwithstanding how mild, it is capable of making a slave out of a king. Watch it!
