The world is a place filled with violence, hatred,
tribalism, nepotism, criticism, racism, egotism, terrorism, insurgency, and all
sorts of inhuman activities that lead not, but to war.
Peace-making however,
separates believers in Christ from the world.
Jesus testifies about the world in John 7:7, "The world cannot hate
you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are
evil". The world is known for evil and it has known no peace from
the days of Adam. The Garden of Eden was the only peaceful environment created for
human habitation while the world was the dwelling place of the devil. The man
lost his peace the day he agreed to partner with the devil hence, he was thrown
out of the garden into the world.
Peace is not a language understood by the world, as soon as you found a
solution to one crisis, another is already brewing. As children
of God, you may not be able to see a perfect world with a peaceful atmosphere, but, you are encouraged to follow peace with all men. Hebrew 12:14, "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord"
I am not surprised there are many
tribulations in the world today, Jesus already told us about them. The insurgency
and terrorism suffered today as a result of political and religious differences
have been long forewarned. Suddenly, the world is becoming more provoking than
ever and this is making many elects go out of their way to speak words and take
actions contrary to their belief. Jesus warned us, no peace can be achieved by
our fleshly efforts; we need to apply the spiritual principles of God. John
15:17-19, "These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the
world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the
world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I
have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you".
The intervention of Jesus Christ brings about
peace into the world and it is only in Him that the peace can be realized. He
was tortured, afflicted, and maltreated grievously while in the world; he never
lifted a finger, he made peace with all men and He came out victoriously. It
behooves us, therefore, to learn from His own example and know how we can handle
the present situations confronting us.
Indeed, there might be a lot of infernos in the world today in which we might
be greatly disadvantaged, yet we are advised to make peace with all men. Jesus
admonished in Luke 6:29,
"And unto him, that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and
him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also".
But, why would Jesus talk like this? Why
would I keep quiet and play a fool when I'm being assaulted? Of what benefit is
this to me? So many questions but one answer, that you might be the children of God. Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the
peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God".
Luke 6:35, "But love ye your enemies, and
do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great,
and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful
and to the evil"
The world is gradually becoming too hostile for man to live and every effort to see a lasting solution seems not achievable. We, therefore, need to be very careful so as not to miss the point of our existence here on earth. Let us realize that whatever evil agenda unfolds around us today is just a mere distraction to lure us to hell. Jesus encourages us in John 16:33, "These things I have
spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have
tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world"
Remember, two wrongs don't make a right, we can overcome every evil when we choose to do the right thing.
