HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

In Genesis 1:1-5, darkness was revealed as the opposite of light; and before the light appeared, there was darkness. It is obvious, God frowns at darkness because darkness was a threat to the earth but Light was created to overcome darkness. And, until light appeared, there was nothing good about the earth. Although God does not delight in darkness, He did not evacuate darkness completely from the earth. Darkness and light have been put together to operate at a different pace on earth to make a complete day. Without the appearance of both light and darkness at the stipulated time apportioned to each of them, a day is not complete. There is evidence of darkness around us today; but, Jesus says, you are the light of the world.

What is light?
  1. Light is a revealer, John 4:1-16 (the woman of Samaria met Jesus by the well and He was able to tell her about her past life and revealed to her the promise of God)
  2. Light makes vision possible. Acts 9:3-18 (the true state of Paul as a blind man was revealed when the light of God shined round about him on his way to Damascus and by the time his eyes were opened, he caught a new vision with which he lived the rest of his life)
  3. Light illuminates. Luke 8:26-32 (when the madman of Gadarene came in contact with Jesus, the light was so much that the legion inhabited his body could find nowhere to hide, they began to beg Jesus not to destroy them but to allow them to find their habitation somewhere else)
  4. Light enlightens. John 3:1-4 (Nicodemus was a leader in Israel, yet he could not understand what it means to be born again. However, in his encounter with Jesus, he was made to understand)
  5. Light corrects, Light is a healer and light is a giver of life.

Please understand, every definition of light mentioned above simply describe who you are as the light of the world.

Genesis 1:16, "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also"

Now, there are two different types of light, the greater light and the lesser light; but which type exactly are you?

Are you a greater light or a lesser light?

Greater light has more influence, it rules over the day and never allows darkness to appear a bit. It actually brings out light in its entirety.  Are you a man or a woman with great influence, are you in a position of authority, are you a leader of a community, a chief or a big business tycoon? How can God bless you with so much influence, wealth and resources; yet there are people within your reach that are going through stuff? Which type of light are you? Know you not that the bigger your influence in life, the greater your light should be?  What are you doing about the evil that is happening around your domain? What are you doing with so much power that has been given you to dominate darkness in your world? Can we really say you are the light of the world? Please note, you did not make yourself, God made you and whatever you think you are or whatever position you may find yourself today, God knows about it and He granted you the privilege, you are nothing without Him. Therefore, use your God-given influence to dominate every darkness around your domain and let your light so shine before men to see and glorify your Father which is in heaven. I pray for you, the sun does not struggle to shine; you will not struggle to shine in the name of Jesus.

The Lesser light has little influence, it rules over the night. Although there is darkness at night, lesser light still dominate even in the darkness. No matter the magnitude of the light, God called the two light, great. The reason is not far-fetched, they serve different purposes; but, the bottom line is, they dominate darkness. You may not have so much influence, you may be struggling to survive, maybe you don’t even have a job, you are not married, without children, not even known in the church, Jesus says you are the light of the world. As a lesser light which may not be noticed during the day when the greater light has taken over, it is important to note that you must become visible and shine, frowning at any advent of darkness trying to show its ugly face around you especially when the greater light has resigned. Like moon and star at night; though, your influence may not be so great, but you have all it takes to dominate.

The lesser the light, the lesser the influence. No candle can do the work of an electric bulb; no 40-watt bulb can do the work of a halogens bulb, and no halogens bulb can be as bright as sunlight. Every light operates within their given capacity.

You don't need to start a church before your light can be revealed. You don't need to become a pastor for you to shine for God. You can be a greater light or you can be a lesser light, the question is are you shining?

How can you shine?

Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-16, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven"

No matter how small a light can be, it will always make an impact in the darkness; you can shine for God when you do not stop to show that you are a child of God by the fruit of your doings.

Please understand this; light did not make itself. Even the artificial lights are made by men. God made the light, He said let there be light, and there was light. Therefore, you can not become a light except you are made by God. Until you had an encounter with the Light personified Himself--Jesus Christ, you are not one. John 4:28-29,39,42.

Give your life to Jesus today, have an encounter with the Light; you will become a light and make impacts in your world in the name of Jesus.
