HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED

No matter how long we live on earth, death will certainly come at the end.
Death has no respect for age, race, position, social status, religion, and so on.
In any form it may appear, death is not our friend. The grip of death reduces man, no matter how great to nothing. In fact, "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death", 1 Corinthians 15:26.

What is death?
Death is a state of lifelessness.
It can also be defined as the termination of the contract signed between the body and the spirit of a man at the beginning of life on earth. Once the contract is terminated, there is no union between the body and the spirit any longer.

What is the reason for death?
Death came as a result of the disobedience of the first Adam.
Genesis 2:16-17, "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17, But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die".

Is there a way out for man?
Yes, there is a way out in Christ Jesus,  glory be to God!
We were redeemed from the bondage of death into eternal life through the second and the last Adam, His name is Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17, "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ".
1 Thessalonians 4:13, "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope".

So then, what should I do now?
  • Understand you have a limited time that you have no control over.
Psalms 90:10, "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away".
  • Understand your days are numbered and when it is time to answer the call you can not say no. Death became necessary anyway, because, there must be an end to the corruption that is in our body for us to be able to put on the incorruptible.
1 Corinthians 15:53-54, "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54, So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory".

2 Peter 1:13-15, "Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14, Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15, Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance".
  • Therefore, maximize the limited time you have on earth.
How do I maximize the limited time?
In order to maximize the limited time apportioned us on earth, there is a need to number our days by ourselves according to the prayer of Moses in Psalm 90:12, "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom".

How do we number our days?
  1. Surrender your life to Jesus.
  2. Live every day pursuing the purpose of God for your life. Philippians 1:21, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain".
  3. Ask yourself on a daily basis, what have I done for God today. Romans 6:11, "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord".
  4. Stop wasting your limited time, resources and energy on insignificant issues of life. (A story of a young woman and another provoking elderly woman in a bus)
  5. Let the love of God radiate from you and be extended to everyone around you. Zechariah 8:17, "And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD".
  6. Be more committed in lifesaving activities like evangelism, prayer and fellowship with brethren. Proverbs 11:30, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise".
  7. Appreciate and thank God for every day of your life. Psalms 150:6, "Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD".

Conclusion:
The time apportioned us here on earth is fixed, you can never tell how long or short it is. Today is your day of salvation, make a decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour today, tomorrow may not be guaranteed.
