HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?

Commitment can be defined as the act of binding oneself intellectually, emotionally and spiritually to a course of action.

Marriage would have been like every other intimate relationship between a man and a woman but for the commitment. When there is no commitment to the marital vow, the couple will compromise and the marriage will definitely collapse.
Genesis 2:24, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh".
This covenant sealed with mutual agreement between man and woman to become inseparable is a reflection of the commitment to stay together, in health or sickness, wealth or poorer and whatever may happen along the line until death brings an unstoppable separation between the union.

When a man and a woman entered into a marriage covenant, their intention is usually for life but in the real sense of it, marriage is simply a commitment to death because this is the only factor, scripturally acceptable for defection as far as marriage is concerned. Except this vow is duly observed and respected, marriage is just one big joke.

However, when a man is called by God, it is usually a call to separation just as Abraham was called in Genesis 12:1,
"Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee".

This call came to Abraham because God needed his undivided attention without any distraction to execute His plans through him on earth.

Secondly, when God calls a man, it is usually a call to service. Even when it may not be revealed at the early stage of His calling, Abraham was actually called to serve God. In Genesis 12:1, take note of what He says;
"unto a land that I will shew thee".

What does He want Abraham to do with the land, you may ask? Simply put, to occupy and possess for God's glory.

Finally, when God calls a man, it is a call to dominion. God told Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3,
"And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing: 3, And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed".

This last reason usually sounds interesting to all Christians compare to the two mentioned earlier, separation and service. But, there will be no dominion until we are separated unto Him and are fully involved in His service.

Dear brothers and sisters, if you have received a call to salvation, what you have received is the same call that Abraham received as mentioned above; a call to separation, service and dominion.

HOW COMMITTED ARE YOU?
Your commitment to the divine call of God is key to your success in life. Behind the history of every successful bible-character is a life that is committed to the calling of God. You will succeed in life if only you can be responsive to the calling of God.

Commitment says, whether I like it or not, whether it is convenient or not, no matter how I feel about it, it is my obligation and I must do it anyhow.
Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:16,
"For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel".
Commitment is a self-sacrificing devotion and loyalty to a cause.
Shadrack, Mesach and Abednego said in Daniel 3:16-18,
" whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If it be so, our Goddeliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18,  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up".

This is a violent act of commitment that is inevitable for the present age Christians.

Commitment does not take into account only his/her selfish interest, rather the interest of God as touching many other people. Esther says in Esther 4:16,
"Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish".

If all you care about God is selfish aggrandisement, no doubt, you are still wallowing in ignorance. Whether you know it or not, you have a unique duty and obligation towards God.

Commitment says, come rain come sunshine, this is my calling and I must do it. I am having an unwavering obligation towards this. See what Daniel did in Daniel 6:10,
"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime".
Brethren, how committed are you to God?
Commitment to God is required for every successful endeavour in life. When commitment is out of place, failure is inevitable.
May you encounter grace for a genuine commitment to God in Jesus name.
May your dominion on earth be established in the name of Jesus.

God is committed to you when you are committed to Him. Therefore, be committed to God.
