HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YE?

In the middle of hopelessness and a state of dilemma, Jesus asked a very intriguing question, "How many loaves have ye?"          It is very unlikely to fathom with the hope that any solution could be offered when found in the situation as recorded in Mark 8:1-10. There was hunger, weakness, despair, hopelessness, scarcity and death in view.  The disciples' response was indeed nothing different from mine or yours except we are schooled and able to comprehend what Jesus did to arrest the situation. To have a smooth sail and end well as a Christian on earth, it is important to understand the know-how and steps required to tackle many issues that bedevil us.  As far as the present world is concerned, problems abound. Ranging from health, finance, marriage, family, business, spiritual, and otherwise, every man is encumbered daily with pockets of troubles.  However, these problems are not designed to mar us, rather, they help in shaping our lives for the greater gl

DIVINE INTERVENTION

The word intervention simply means an act of becoming intentionally involved, in a difficult situation to improve it or prevent it from getting worse.
When a man could not help himself resolve a problem, he will most likely require someone else's involvement to assist him. Such assistance is what is referred to as intervention.
However, when no man is fit to intervene and give the required assistance, what is required at this point is Divine Intervention.
In the book of Acts 3:1-8, the story of the lame man by the beautiful gate was narrated.
This man could not walk, and as a matter of fact, the Bible says he was lame from his mother's womb. Men have been carrying him to the beautiful gate daily to beg for alms. But, if this man will ever walk by himself without depending on the assistance of men, he needs the Divine Intervention and he got it the day he met with Peter.
In the book of John 5:1-9, the story of the impotent man by the pool of Bethesda was told.
This man suffers total paralysis and there is nothing he could do for himself. He needed the intervention of men to get things done especially to put him in the river when the angel came around, but men have always disappointed him. This man would have remained in this condition till death but for the Divine intervention of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I see God getting involved in your matters today in the name of Jesus.

What is divine intervention?

  1. Divine intervention is God's involvement in the affairs of men to improve it or prevent it from getting worse.
  2. Divine intervention is all you need when every effort of men have failed. Psalm 121:1-2, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
  3. Divine intervention defiles protocol. John 5:1-9, at the pool of Bethesda, there was a grave protocol. Every protocol delaying your miracle is broken today in the name of Jesus.
  4. Divine intervention is God doing His own thing as it pleases Him, at any time, anywhere, anyhow and as  He wills.
As you are reading this message, I want you to understand that God is interested in your case, therefore, seek divine intervention with all your heart.

But, how do I qualify for divine intervention?

A story was told in the book of Luke 5:17-25 about a man that was sick of the palsy. He was brought to a place where Jesus was ministering to a great multitude. All effort to bring this sick of the palsy before Jesus proved abortive. However, the friends were so dogmatic and with violent faith decide to do the unthinkable. They climbed the roof of the building, opened it up and led their friend down before Jesus with chain. When Jesus saw what they did, their faith indeed provoked Him to minister to the sick man and he got his healing right away.

There are many lessons in this passage, the followings are some of the lessons;

  • Acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask for forgiveness.
It would amaze you to know that the first thing said by Jesus Christ after He had seen the faith of the men that brought the man that was sick of the palsy was "Man, thy sins are forgiven thee" Luke 5:28. This indicates that we must confess our sins, seek forgiveness, and repent of them all. And, if you are yet to accept the lordship of Jesus over your lives, it is high time you did.
Sin creates a barrier between you and God.
Sin places you in subjection to sickness.
The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
Sin legally gives Satan, dominion and authority over you. Isaiah 59:1-2, "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins hidden hid his face from you, that he will not hear".
  • Don't just seek to be in the presence of God, seek to have an encounter with Him.
Everyone present in the meeting actually sought to be in His presence, but the men that brought the sick man didn't just seek to be, they came to have an encounter.
As it is common to everybody; prayer, praise, worship, rendering quality service and using our substances for His glory surely get us tickets to appear in His presence. But, getting His attention amidst a large multitude many a time require us to go the extra mile and do the unusual.
Luke 5:19, "And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus".
Even when they came very late, they had to climb the housetop, open up the roof and create a means through which their friend was let down to appear before Jesus amidst the great multitude.
Climbing the housetop by the men with the sick of the palsy is doing the unusual and going the extra mile with a high level of persistence and determination to get the solution to the problem. When we seek to find God, we can equally climb the housetop by doing the unusual when we do not just pray, but, at least fast alongside the prayer.
  • Do all in faith.
Luke 5:20, And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee".
All their effort would have been in vain, but for the faith that Jesus saw in them.
Faith determines largely whether we will receive from God or not, please hold on to your faith.
Faith is total confidence and total trust in the ability of God to do whatever He has said, do not doubt His ability.
Faith is the response of the human spirit to the word of God. Let the word of God abide in your heart
1 John 5:4, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith".
Hebrews 11:6, "But without, faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him".
  • Surround Yourself with good people
The man sick of the palsy could no longer help himself, obviously, he needed the intervention of God. But, men still played important roles that led to the divine attention he finally received from Jesus Christ. The lesson learnt here is that the man taken with the palsy had around him quality people that will not relent until they have found the solution to the problems of their friend. Luke 5:18, And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
What type of people do you have around you today?
What type of person are you too, to the people that have you around them?
Dear brother and sister surround yourself with good people. But, not only that, always be a good person to the people that have you around them.
You need to have around you, people that are ready to take it upon themselves to stand in gap for you in prayer and fasting when the need arises.

In conclusion, only the children of God can get divine intervention. Therefore, if you have not surrendered your life to  Jesus, you must do so now.
